What do you do when you hear a gunshot? In 2006, there were 12,791 homicides involving handguns and another 642 unintentional shooting fatalities, per the Center for Disease Control. Over 3,200 of these involved children ages 19 and under. For every one person killed by guns, 3 - 4 more are hospitalized.
